Who won the Super Bowl? At first I thought it was Arcade Fire. For the past few weeks, everywhere I’ve turned I’ve heard their music being played. But after seeing some of the ads I’ve decided that Dove is the big winner.
I’m not a big fan of the ad itself, but I’m very impressed with the tagline they came up with to sell what has always been a very feminine product to adult men: “Be comfortable in your own skin.”
I love the fact that Dove didn’t play the metrosexual card with this campaign, but they did slyly say it’s okay — and not gay — to take care of your skin. It seems that most of the other Super Bowl ads took the low road and depicted men as either animals or whimpering fools.
Well done, Dove. Sold.
